A 14-year-old boy was struck and killed in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn over the weekend. The New York Police Department reports that the crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of East 81st Street and Glenwood Road.

Police say the teen was crossing the street about a block from his home when he was caught between crashing vehicles, a speeding SUV and a pickup truck easing out of 81st Street. During the collision, video footage shows that the SUV rotated clockwise into the teen, who later died from his injuries at an area hospital. Police have arrested and charged the 45-year-old SUV driver for driving without a valid license.

Local residents say accidents are a recurring problem at the intersection, reporting having witnessed countless accidents over time from drivers running through the stop sign.
