As reported in the New York Daily News: The first lawsuit against Southwest Airlines is being filed by Jacqueline Young of South Carolina in relation to the broken gear that caused Flight 345 to have a rough landing. A South Carolina woman who was injured evacuating the Southwest Airlines jet that landed on its nose at LaGuardia Airport last month is filing a lawsuit Friday alleging pilot error. Jacqueline Young’s complaint is believed to be the first suit against the airline in connection with the July 22 accident, said lawyer Sanford Rubenstein. Young, 48, suffered a concussion and other injuries when she slid down the evacuation chute of Flight 345 and “nobody helped catch me.” The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating why the nose gear collapsed when the plane touched down. The suit will be filed in Queens Supreme Court.
