Raina was born on November 16, 1993, and is presently 19 years old. On January 10, 2013, she underwent an endoscopy at Phelps Memorial
Hospital Center performed by Stephen Heier, M.D. The anesthesiologist for this procedure was Phat Tran, M.D. During the endoscopy, as a result of the alleged defendants negligence in the administration of anesthesia and failing to properly monitor her condition and vital signs, Raina experienced a cardio-respiratory arrest. As a result, she suffered profound brain damage/injury and is presently confined to Blythedale Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, where she remains in a medically compromised state.
